Recent studies show that physical activity across the EU is falling resulting in negative consequences for the health of citizens but also wider society and economy as a whole; the cost of health care rises and greater absenteeism through ill-health from the workplace is on the increase leading to a drop in productivity.
As part of the campaign, each year a week will be dedicated to activities around sports and physical activity at all levels including EU, national, regional and local level. 2015 will mark the start of this initiative during the week of the 7-13 September which coincides with ECA´s General Assembly in Geneva.
